Website privacy
This covers what Brookhaus Ltd collects when you visit this website. It is short, because this site does very little: it shows you some pages, remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode, and takes your email address if you choose to give it to us.
The short version
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies.
- We only get your email address if you type it into the newsletter form yourself.
- Your light or dark preference stays in your own browser.
- We never sell or rent anything we hold.
Our apps handle rather more information than this site does, so they have their own privacy policy, linked from each app's store listing and available inside the app.
Who we are
Brookhaus Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, and is the data controller for the information described here. Questions, requests and complaints go to privacy@brookhaus.co.uk, where a person will read them.
What we collect
Your email address, if you subscribe
The only thing this site asks you for is an email address for our newsletter, and only if you decide to enter one. We pass it to Loops, who store our mailing list and send the emails. We use it to write to you about what we are building, and for nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Server logs
Our host, Netlify, keeps standard short-lived logs of requests to the site — the page requested, your IP address, your browser's user agent and the time. These exist so the site can be kept secure and available, and so we can work out what happened when something breaks. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect
There are no analytics tools, advertising scripts, tracking pixels, social media trackers or third-party embeds on this site. We do not know how many of you there are, which is a trade we are comfortable with.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. When you switch between light and dark mode, that preference is saved in your browser's own local storage so the site looks right next time you visit. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Why we are allowed to use it
Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for each purpose. For the newsletter it is your consent, given when you submit the form and withdrawn whenever you unsubscribe. For server logs it is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure, available and working properly.
Who we share it with
Only the two companies that help us run the site. They act on our instructions and may only use the information to provide their service to us.

Beyond that we share information only where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, after which the record is deleted.
- Server logs are cycled out by our host within a short period, typically 30 days.
Where your information is held
Our host and our email provider operate in the European Economic Area and the United States. Where information leaves the UK, we rely on the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or an approved adequacy decision, so that it keeps an equivalent level of protection.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we are using it, ask for it in a portable format, or withdraw your consent to the newsletter. Email privacy@brookhaus.co.uk and we will respond within one month. It costs nothing and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Our apps
This policy is about the website only. Our apps collect more than a brochure site needs to, so they are covered by their own privacy policy, which you will find linked from the app's App Store or Google Play listing and inside the app itself.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the page and the date at the top of it.
